Polyactic acide of polylactide (PLA) is a biodegradable, thermoplastic, aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch or sugarcanes. Although PLA has been known for more than a century, it has only been of commercial interest in recent years, in light of its biodegradability.

Bagasse is the biomass remaining after sugarcane stalks are crushed to extract their juice and is currently used as a renewable resource in the manufacture of pulp and paper products and building materials. Sugarcane is completely compostable.

Compost is a combination of decomposed plants and other organic materials that are being decomposed large through aerobic ecomposition into a rick black soil. The process of composting is simple and pracitced by individuals in their homes, farmers on their land, and industrially by industries and cities.
